Feasibility study of the wave based method for high-frequency steady-state acoustic analysis
نویسنده
چکیده
A recently developed wave based method (WBM) has proven to be a computationally efficient tool for analysing steady-state lowand mid-frequency acoustic problems. The method is based on an indirect Trefftz approach, in that the dynamic pressure field is approximated by wave functions, which are exact solutions of the governing Helmholtz equation. Several case studies have shown that the WBM exhibits a higher convergence rate than the finite element method (FEM) and is therefore able to tackle problems at higher frequencies, before reaching the same computational limitations which restrict the use of the FEM to lowfrequency applications. This paper investigates the applicability of the WBM for high-frequency analysis and checks if the enhanced convergence properties, which are observed in the lowand mid-frequency range, become also apparent in the high-frequency range.

This paper concerns with the modeling and construction of a fifth order method for two dimensional acoustic wave equation in heterogenous media. The method is based on a standard discretization of the problem on smooth regions and a nonstandard method for nonsmooth regions. The construction of the nonstandard method is based on the special treatment of the interface using suitable jump conditio...

متن کاملAn efficient Wave Based Method for axisymmetric acoustic-poroelastic problems
The most commonly used prediction techniques to study the steady state behaviour of coupled acousticporoelastic problems are based on the Finite Element Method. However, due to the large computational load when frequency increases, these methods are restricted to low frequency problems. Recently, a Wave Based Method was developed to tackle this type of problems in a more efficient way. The meth...
متن کاملEfficient Wave Based Models for Acoustic Scattering and Transmission Problems Using Point Source and Plane Wave Excitation
The wave based method (WBM) is an efficient deterministic prediction method for the analysis of steady-state acoustic problems. It offers an alternative to the finite element and boundary element method, especially in the mid-frequency range, where these element based methods are impaired by their computational burden. This paper discusses the use of new source formulations in WB models for two...
